Life as a Xennial
As I sit down to write my third blog entry, I can’t help but reflect on the journey I’ve shared so far—losing myself to life’s trials and tribulations and meeting myself for the very first time. Today, I want to take you deeper. Let me share myself with you. Let me open the door to who I am and how I got here.
But before we dive into who Nichole is now, let’s explore what shaped me into the person you know today. Let’s talk about Northeast Pennsylvania in 1983, where I was born into a world that felt simpler yet steadfast. My parents—baby boomers—exemplified a work ethic that was second to none. Everyone around me, whether men or women, worked tirelessly and took pride in what they built—whether it was a career, a home, or a community.
Back then, dinner wasn’t a quick bite from a drive-thru or a delivery from Sheetz or DoorDash. Meals were hot, home-cooked, served with meat, vegetables, and always a glass of milk. Homework was done at the kitchen table, with family close by. Sure, we grumbled about assignments, but we still showed up and put in the effort—something that feels like a lost art nowadays.
Sports were everything. Little league was where memories were made, and borough games were the majors in our eyes. The all-stars were the pinnacle—a reward for those who showed up, worked hard, and put in the time. Yes, feelings might’ve been hurt, but those moments taught us resilience. It wasn’t about fairness; it was about dedication.
Life then wasn’t perfect, but there was something raw and real about the way people lived. Today, with everything moving online, so much of that authenticity feels lost. While the digital world brings its own opportunities, it also pulls us away from the tangible, human experiences that shaped who I am.
This is only the beginning of my story. What’s next? I want to tease you just a bit—because what I’m building isn’t just about me. It’s about connecting, growing, and creating something impactful together.
In this post, I hope you’ll start to see the threads that weave my past into the present. I’m inviting you to get to know me—not just as Nichole but as a person navigating life, lessons, and next steps. Let’s walk this path together.
